Daka is one of our exceptional horses here at Cornerstone Therapeutic Riding Center. Daka has riders that come just to see her. One of our little riders has pictures in her room of Daka and carries them around till the next time she gets to be with her favorite horse.

Daka started showing signs of not feeling well this past Tuesday morning March 3rd, by that afternoon Daka was picked up by one of our very kind volunteers who helped us get her to Helen Woodward Animal Hospital. It did not look good for Daka, her digestive system wasn’t working properly and she was in a huge amount of pain. Once to the hospital they were able to give her relief until more testing could be done. After extensive testing there was found to be major blockage in her intestines (sand). The surgeon said he thought surgery (recovery time and monitoring) could restore her to good health. So the decision was made to move forward with the surgery. I am happy to say Daka did well through the surgery. She has had some struggles since then. But, is facing each struggle like a champ. We are doing everything possible to get her healthy. Then, on her way to getting back to helping our students thrive through their riding lessons. Each day is different but not without hope.

The down side to all of this, is that the surgery and recovery are not free. But, we felt it was well worth it to save the life of a sweet soul that helps so many.

That is where we need your help. Please donate to help with the costs of Daka’s care. Your donation can be a tax write off, Cornerstone is a 501(c)3 non profit.

Thank you in advance for your help!!
