Meet the Horses

Sakari is a liver chestnut, 18 year-old Kentucky Mountain Saddle horse standing at 16 hands.
We are told her name means “friendship” in African and she certainly has the sweetest disposition! She is a very experienced trail horse and mountain climber extraordinaire. Her smooth gaits and calm demeanor help riders feel comfortable and confident. Sakari was generously donated to Cornerstone by Phyllis Kenyon.

Daka is a 19 year-old Norwegian Fjord horse standing at 13.2 hands. Norwegian Fjords are one of the oldest living breeds and are known for their comfortable gaits and very kind dispositions.
We are told her name means “little doll” in Norwegian, and we couldn’t agree more! She is trained and has shown in dressage, hunter-jumpers, and driving. Daka was generously donated to Cornerstone by the Parker family.

Ramón is a gray, 2 year-old Welsh pony cross, standing at 11 hands. From the day he was born, children adored him and lavished him with love. As a result, Ramón loves as much attention as he can get! His special gift is to offer little ones, or anyone who might be intimidated by larger horses, confidence and reassurance. Ramón sees himself as Cornerstone’s goodwill ambassador. When he is 3 years-old, he will begin professional training for driving and riding. He was generously donated to Cornerstone by Colleen Burman.

Laddie is a bay, 6 year-old Appendix Quarter horse standing at 16 hands. His registered name is “Willie B A Hot Luv”, and the answer is … YES! He is trained in dressage, western pleasure, and trail riding. Although he is young, he is patient, reliable, and extremely laid-back. His curiosity and charm can brighten anybody’s day. He is owned and loved by Judy Beckett, Cornerstone’s founder and Executive Director.
