How You Can Help
Cornerstone is a volunteer based non-profit organization that is dependent on support from individuals, businesses, our local community, and foundations. When you support Cornerstone, you are making a difference in the lives of many disabled children, youths, and adults and providing them the opportunity to experience the life-changing therapy that Cornerstone provides. There are many ways that you can make a difference; whether it’s volunteering your time, making a financial contribution, an in-kind donation, sponsoring an event, sponsoring a horse, or providing funds for scholarships, your gift will go a long way.

Volunteer
When you volunteer your time at Cornerstone, you will have a life-changing experience because you have made a difference in the life of someone else. But it doesn't end there...you will have amazing stories to share with your family and friends, you can tell them about the herd of wild buffalo you saw at Cornerstone (yes, we really have buffalo on the ranch!) you can tell them about all the incredible wildlife you see, or the beautiful friendships you have developed with our students and other volunteers. We call this the "Cornerstone Experience" and we invite you to join us in improving the lives of people with disabilities and to become part of the Cornerstone family. We offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for virtually all ages. Here's how you can help:
- Participate in weekly lessons as a leader or sidewalker
- Participate weekly in the care and grooming of our horses
- Offer administrative assistance
- Assist with stable care and maintenance
- Assist with building projects
- Serve on fundraising and event committees
- Aid in gardening and landscape design

Fire Relief
Cornerstone was impacted by the recent fires and is in the process of rebuilding. Our barn had extensive damage and is not salvageable so we will need to build new shelters for our horses. We also lost our tack room, our feed room, grooming stalls, and storage. The cost of rebuilding is significant and thanks to a grant from a private family foundation and donations from individuals, and businesses, Cornerstone is making great headway in our redevelopment. We have been unable to operate as a result of the fires, however we are happy to report that we are on track to resume lessons in February! Scholarships
Cornerstone has a core belief that no student should be turned away due to a lack of ability to pay for their lessons. Our weekly lesson fee is $40 per student. The actual cost to provide a lesson is $165. We have created a scholarship fund to ensure that we will always be able to say “Welcome to Cornerstone” to any and all people who, otherwise, would not have the opportunity to participate in the program.
- I would like to provide scholarship funding for one student for one year $2,000
- I would like to provide scholarship funding for one student for nine months $1,440
- I would like to provide scholarship funding for one student for six months $ 960
- I would like to provide scholarship funding for one student for three months $ 480

Make a Financial Contribution
A financial contribution is an excellent way to show your support. Cornerstone is committed to fiscal responsibility; to you, our donor, in addition to our students, our horses, and our volunteers. Your financial support allows us to “keep the doors open and the horses fed”. Your tax deductible donation provides for the purchase of special riding lesson equipment, horse care supplies, care and maintenance of the riding arena and grounds, office supplies, technology needs, and enables Cornerstone to continue to provide a safe, professional, and dynamic environment for our clients.
- Make a pledge. A pledge allows you to spread your gift out over a specified period of time.
- Make a memorial or honorary gift. Making a gift in the name of a loved one, or a beloved pet, is a wonderful way to honor someone special in your life.
- Corporate Matching. Many corporations will match an employee’s gift (including spouses) so be sure to check with your employer-you just might be able to double your donation!

In-kind Donations
In-kind donations allow Cornerstone to provide better care for our horses and the people that depend on them. Donations of items that we would otherwise need to purchase make a significant difference in our program and allow us to keep doing what we do best…provide therapy on horseback!

Sponsor a Horse
Cornerstone would not exist without our wonderful herd of specially trained horses. These amazing animals are not only our students’ therapists, but they are also well loved friends. Most people are unaware of how difficult it can be to find the perfect therapeutic riding horse. They must be easy going, kind, friendly, and enjoy multiple people working with them at the same time. They must have the patience of Job and also be sound enough to participate in lessons-quite a tall order! Our horses are the heart of Cornerstone and their health and well-being is paramount. Over the course of one year the cost of feed, bedding, shoes, veterinary care, and other expenses for one horse add up to $6,000. In order to continue to provide high quality care for our horses, while keeping the cost of lessons as low as possible for our students, we need your help. For $300 per month you can make a significant difference in helping to offset the program’s primary expense, and it’s tax deductible! Sponsors name will be displayed on the front of your horses stall, you will receive updates on your horse, and a framed photo of your horse along with a certificate of appreciation.
- I would like to sponsor a horse for one year $3,600
- I would like to sponsor a horse for six months $1,800
- I would like to sponsor a horse for three months $900
- Please accept my gift of $________________
